This will help you understand the things we some of the terminology used in our sport.
- Water Box - The beginning area on the track, where the cars roll through to do burn out.
- Tree - The lights on the track to signal when to go.
- Pre-stage - The 1st set of bulbs on the tree.
- Stage - The 2nd set of bulbs on the tree. This lets the starter know you are ready and he will have the lights come down. **In an auto start situation once the 1st car stages then the 2nd car only has seconds to stage or he is considered a red light. So please teach your kids a courtesy of turning the first pre-stage bulb on until the other car turns his first bulb on then they can stage.
- Deep Stage - When you let the pre-stage bulb go out after staging. If you want the kids to do this write DEEP on the car so the starter can see it or they may get pulled back. If the kids do it on accident then they need to raise their hands so the starter will pull them back. Keep in mind the starter does not always pay attention and you are not allowed to pull them back.
- Staging lanes - The lanes that you get ready to race.
- Return Roads - The road that you get on after the race is over.
- ET - Elapsed time, how long it took to go down the track usually displayed in seconds.
- Red Light - When the kid leaves before the green light. usually less than 5.0 seconds sometimes 4.0 on a pro tree.
- Full Tree - this means the lights come down 1 by 1 and 5.0 is a perfect light.
- Pro Tree - This means all of the lights come down at once. They can be set up for a 4.0 second or 5.0 second depending on the track, they will tell you.
- Reaction Time - How quick you got off of the tree. on a full tree 5.0 is perfect and 4.99 is red.
